Rofessa
In the late 22nd century, bionic upgrades to the human body have become widely available, and increasingly powerful. “Augmented” humans grow more common by the day, combining the natural body with technology to outstrip ordinary human limits. This movement faces resistance, and the gap between “Basics” and “Augmented” festers as it widens, then erupts when artificial humans are first created.
Rofessa, the first satellite city, is conceived as a solution. Massive, well-equipped, and designed to be a nation unto itself, Rofessa presented the alienated Augmented an alternative to a world hostile to their existence. Many took to the stars, pioneers in human advancement beyond the Earth, to live in peace with their own kind.
Until Rofessa crashed to Earth.
The story of Rofessa is history to Felix, a hiker using his vacation time to explore the man-made mountain range erected over the satellite’s crash site five years later. His curiosity leads him deep into the mountains until an accident sends him and his friends underground to learn a deadly secret; Rofessa was not destroyed in the crash.
In the city of the future, Felix finds himself trapped in a dark, wild ruin overrun with amoral mercenaries, bio-mechanical psychopaths, and a strange, silent monster with burning red eyes. Together with his friends, the analytical and determined Karen and the charming, enigmatic street magician Grant, Felix must try to escape to the surface to save the sane survivors, as well as his own life.
Each step forward leads him deeper into Rofessa’s secrets, the truth behind its fall and captivity, and the mystery of the Simulacra, Rofessa’s godlike artificial humans.
